Performance Coaching / Auckland
Individual physical preparation for athletes who want more than a workout. A long-term coaching relationship built around the sport, the person and what needs to improve next.
The difference
The goal is not to collect workouts. It is to change what the athlete can do.
Performance Coaching connects training across weeks and phases. The plan accounts for team training, competition, training age, injury history, current physical qualities and the demands of the athlete's sport.
That means priorities can change without the standard changing. The athlete is coached through the process rather than handed a programme and left to guess.
Physical preparation
Not every quality needs equal attention. The job is to identify which qualities will create the biggest return for this athlete, in this phase, then coach them well enough for adaptation to occur.
Produce and control force with enough capacity to support the demands layered on top of it.
Express force quickly through jumping, accelerating, contact and explosive sport actions.
Develop acceleration, high-speed exposure and the technical qualities that support faster running.
Build coordination, usable range and movement options so robustness does not come at the cost of skill.
Prepare the athlete to tolerate, repeat and recover from the work their sport actually demands.
Individualised
“The programme matters. The person it is built for matters more.”
The programme has to serve the actions, contacts, running and repeat demands of competition.
Training age changes what should be introduced, how quickly it can be loaded and what progress looks like.
School, work, team training, games and travel all affect what the athlete can productively absorb.
Testing, training outputs and coaching observation help decide what deserves attention now.
The coaching relationship
The JP ATHLETIC system sits underneath the service. What the athlete experiences is simpler: clear priorities, coached sessions, purposeful progression and regular review.
Start with the sport, schedule, training history and current physical picture. Testing is used where it improves the decision.
Build the phase around what matters most now rather than trying to improve everything at once.
Sessions are coached for intent, execution and understanding. The athlete should know what they are trying to achieve.
Review how the athlete is responding, retest when useful and adjust the next phase from better information.
Built around sport
Performance Coaching does not exist in isolation. The programme has to complement the athlete's sport schedule rather than compete with it.
Fit matters
For athletes who need structure, foundations and coaching that progresses with their training age.
For athletes whose team programme cannot fully address their own physical priorities.
For pathway, representative and professional athletes who need physical preparation organised around demanding environments.
Injury history can inform training decisions, but Performance Coaching does not diagnose or medically treat injury. Athletes with current injuries should remain under the care of an appropriate registered health professional.
Performance Coaching
Coaching is deliberately individual. The application gives JP enough context to understand the athlete, the training environment and whether this is the right pathway.
