A high-performance sprint development experience without equal

On December 22–23, Saint Kentigern College will host one of New Zealand’s most advanced youth speed development events. A two-day, professionally engineered training experience designed to elevate athletes who demand more of themselves and their sport.
The JP ATHLETIC Speed Code Camp is a rare convergence of expertise, technology, and methodology typically reserved for Olympic programmes, NRL high-performance systems, and elite international sport. Over two days, athletes will be immersed in a coaching environment built on detail, clarity, and world-class teaching.
At the centre of this event is James Mortimer, Olympic Sprint Coach and the architect behind Zoe Hobbs’ ascent onto the global stage. Athletes will learn from one of the sharpest technical minds in sprinting, gaining insight into the subtleties of acceleration, posture, timing, force application, and max-velocity mechanics. Principles that define genuine speed.
Alongside him is Jordan Papa, NRL Warriors Head of Pathways and founder of JP ATHLETIC. Jordan brings a modern, system-driven approach to speed development, integrating professional movement analysis, skill progression, and the performance standards used across the Warriors’ elite pathway.
Every athlete will undergo comprehensive testing using VALD Performance Technology, including force plate analysis and speed gate profiling. This is the same technology used in NRL, Super Rugby, Premier League football, UFC, and leading global academies. Athletes will receive objective, high-quality data on how they produce force, how they accelerate, how efficiently they move, and where their development can improve. It is youth development with the precision of professional sport.
The coaching team expands even further with the inclusion of Pierre Austruy, former Bordeaux-Begles Top 14 Head of Performance, with experience across Russia and Ireland 7s, and now Strength, Speed & Power Coach at the Warriors. Pierre will deliver an elite speed-strength session grounded in Frans Bosch concepts, coordination-based strength, and VBT-influenced loading. A masterclass in how to build resilient, high-output movers.
Adding a critical performance dimension, Jackson McKellar, Lead Rehabilitation Physiotherapist at the Warriors, will provide a specialist presentation for coaches on sprint mechanics in rehabilitation. His session will outline how elite environments rebuild athletes, reintroduce high-speed running, and progress them back to full performance with precision and intent.
Harry Finnigan, Lead Nutritionist for the Blues, will facilitate an applied workshop on fueling, sleep, recovery, and performance behaviours. An essential component for youth athletes who want to train and compete like professionals.
For the first time, the camp will also open 10 exclusive coaching shadow passes, giving coaches unrestricted access to every on-field, gym, and classroom session. This is an opportunity to study elite cueing, decision making, drill progressions, testing interpretation, and holistic speed development from some of the most respected practitioners in New Zealand. It is genuine professional development - live, immersive, and practical.
The camp will also feature select athlete appearances and Q&A sessions, including insights from Jaymie Kolose, Black Ferns 7s and Blues representative. Her perspective on professionalism, preparation, and the mindset required to perform at the highest level will provide immense value for both athletes and parents.
What makes this camp essential for youth athletes is simple: speed is now the most valuable commodity in modern sport. It influences selection, changes roles, and creates opportunities. Yet true speed development - accurate mechanics, force efficiency, rhythm, intent, and technical mastery - is rarely taught with this level of detail.
This camp fills that gap.
It sets a new standard for youth athletic development in New Zealand.
And for many athletes, it will mark the beginning of a new performance trajectory.
With athlete numbers capped at 30 and coaching access limited to 10, this event is intentionally selective to maintain quality, attention, and depth.
For athletes, parents, and coaches serious about performance, this is the environment that accelerates growth, sharpens skill, and delivers clarity on what elite truly looks like.
Registration is now open.
